The country of South Africa boasts diverse ecosystems, dramatic coastlines, a fascinating blend of cultures and cuisine, and numerous activities for eager visitors.  The World Endeavors Intern in South Africa program offers endless professional opportunities in fields from Fashion and Visual Arts to International Business and Finance. Weekends provide the perfect opportunity to visit the nation’s breathtaking beaches, shelf-like mountains, and, of course, Kruger National Park – said to be the best site for a true African safari. Whether you wish to sample South Africa’s famous Pinotage wine or go on an inland safari, this country is sure to deliver an unforgettably rich experience!

For young professionals, interning in South Africa is the perfect opportunity to explore an intriguing part of the world and experience a new culture, all while gaining necessary work experience.

Live in Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is the top destination in South Africa. The city is bustling, the atmosphere is exciting, and the entertainment is limitless. The juxtaposition of African culture and European influence offers a completely unique experience, from the historic European waterfront to the hip Woodstock district. Offices and shops provide the backdrop for bustling makeshift markets packed with venders selling their goods and snacks.

Towering over the city of Cape Town is Table Mountain, one of the world’s oldest mountains. Visitors can either take a cableway or hike to the top for a breathtaking view of the city. In addition, the city’s coastal location offers ample opportunity to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Internships for Credit
Do you want to earn academic credit for your international internship? Nearly half of World Endeavors participants earn credit while interning abroad. Many students are required to participate in an internship to fulfill a requirement for their degree program. World Endeavors works closely with students and their academic advisors to ensure that our program meets those requirements. If you don’t fall into that category there is another exciting option for you. Through our collaboration with University of California Berkeley, students can earn UC Berkeley credit by taking one of two online courses while interning abroad.
 
Program Snapshot

Housing: World Endeavors interns in Cape Town live with other international interns in a shared house. Participants enjoy their own furnished room with a double bed, desk, and closet. Housing accommodations also include a communal kitchen, living room, and garden. Participant housing is centrally-located for a convenient commute to internship placements, shopping facilities, and cultural activities.

Dates: Internships are available year round, and each placement is customized for the participant. This means that World Endeavors interns can choose the start date and duration of their internship as well as the field. Due to holidays, traditional vacation schedules, and seasonal work availability, there might be better times than others to intern in a specific location or in a specific field. Our advisors work with interns to ensure that their timeframe works adequately with the internship site. This communication is a key to creating a successful internship placement. Also, internship placements are not available in Cape Town between December 1st and January 15th.

Duration: Generally, the minimum program duration for interning in South Africa is 3 months. Also, due to visa constraints, the maximum duration is 6 months. Contact World Endeavors if you would like to go for duration outside of this.
