Ghana is a presidential constitutional democracy located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in West Africa. The word Ghana means "Warrior King". Ghana has a population of about 27 million. Its varied geography includes savannas, woodlands, forests, a coastal line, springs, cave systems, mountains, estuaries, wildlife parks, and nature reserves. Its coast has a rich assortment of culturally significant castles, forts, ports and harbors.
Ghana was the first African nation to declare independence from European colonization, and this made Ghana a symbol of black achievement and helped to inspire other African independence movements. It is a relatively peaceful country and home to Lake Volta, the largest artificial lake in the world by surface area.

Webster-Ghana
The campus opened in March 2014 and is located in Accra, the capital of Ghana and a major metropolitan area with a population of 2.3 million. The city claims splendid beaches, monumental buildings, libraries, galleries, museums, traditional markets and lively nightlife. Accra's architecture reflects its colonial history, with 17th century castles standing alongside modern skyscrapers. The city is a veritable melting pot of cultures.
Located in the Cantonments area of Accra, the Webster University Ghana campus maintains pleasant surroundings, while also being very close to restaurants and shopping at Osu, Labone, and the Accra Mall, as well as just minutes away from both the airport and the beach. Day trips are available to important cultural locations and recreational spots, while overnight trips can also be made to the bustling market town of Kumasi and the up-close-encounters with wildlife in Mole National Park.

Course offerings vary from semester to semester depending upon the faculty members assigned to teach at Webster-Ghana.
As soon as Webster-Ghana publishes the final course list and schedule, typically four months before departure, it will be made available to participating students. Students will be notified by their study abroad advisor and registration will take place through the Office of Study Abroad. Undergraduates must study for a full semester, and graduate students can study for a full semester or one 8-week term. Undergraduate courses are taught in a 16-week format.

- Courses must be taken locally at Webster-Ghana. Online courses and independent study course do not count towards the minimum.

We understand that moving into a new country means exciting new challenges, but it also can be stressful and concerning. You may ask: What is my room like? Who will be my roommate? How safe and convenient is the housing? All of your concerns and worries are our concerns.
In Ghana, there is limited housing on-campus in secure apartments with kitchen, living room, and washing machine. They are double occupancy bedrooms.
Ghana is a destination that is sought after and valued by international students with interest in western Africa.
Study abroad students will have a variety of cultural, sporting and leisure activities available to them promoted by the university student services staff. Currently, all students can participate in the following activities: excursions, guided visits to Ghana’s main cities, cultural events, and attendance at sports events, among others. These activities help students increase their immersion into the culture and provide them with a greater learning experience. Students will also be able to explore on their own with friends. They may want to hike near a waterfall, visit a museum in Accra, or travel to Cape Coast.
The goal of the complementary activities is twofold. On the one hand, the aim is for students to gain a deeper understanding of different aspects of Ghanaian culture outside the classroom in a direct way. The other aim of these activities is to serve as projects and activities that allow students to practice the knowledge they have acquired of African culture via teacher-guided activities.

A visa is official/legal permission to enter a country for a stated purpose and specified period of time and is granted by the government of that country. Requirements and procedures for student visas vary by country.
If you plan to study abroad in a country that requires a student visa, you will be guided through the application process by the OSA staff. While the Office of Study Abroad will assist participants about procedures and requirements, securing a visa is an individual responsibility, and not one that OSA or Webster University can or will assume.
Students are required to procure the proper visa for studying in Ghana. Information can be obtained by contacting the
Ghana Consulate in Houston, Texas. Students are responsible for obtaining their own student visas and should apply for them as soon as possible. Yellow fever vaccination is required.
